As a public campus, our main goal is to provide a quality education to anyone who wishes to pursue it. This does not mean that we should not have standards, but the GPA requirement that has accompanied impaction has denied access to many "average" students who have already made significant progress towards a bachelor's degree.

Since the implementation of major impaction and a GPA requirement for admission, the Accountancy concentration seems to have become MORE impacted. A disproportionate number of students admitted to the major want to pursue Accountancy (roughly 1/3), and these tend to be "type-A" students who have higher GPAs, thus skewing the cut-off. If we made only the ACCY concentration impacted and subject to supplemental GPA requirements, and left the rest of the programs accessible to all students, I think our resources could still accommodate all who wish to pursue non-ACCY degrees.
